He succeeded in this and also incidentally increased the average size of fruits, so the similarity should be no wonder--Mooregold is a superior buttercup. The plant produces high yields bright orange, 6 to 7 inches in diameter and 4 to 5 inches in depth bright orange buttercup squash. The thick, smooth textured, bright orange flesh is very dry with rich, sweet, nutty flavor. Moore Gold is more vigorous and productive than regular buttercup squash.
